At Hops & Co, we upcycle Brewer’s Spent Grain (BSG) -- a byproduct of beer brewing -- into premium, nutrient-rich flour. Partnering with local breweries, we transform this waste into a valuable ingredient for bakeries, reducing environmental impact while promoting sustainability. Our goal is to build a connected network of local businesses, creating an eco-friendly ecosystem in Rotterdam with plans for future expansion.

Our Technology : BSG

We use advanced technology to transform Brewer’s Spent Grain (BSG) into a valuable, nutrient-rich flour. BSG is the byproduct left after brewing beer, packed with fiber, protein, and essential nutrients, but often discarded or used as animal feed. Our machinery processes BSG to preserve its nutritional benefits, turning it into a high-quality flour with 70% lignocellulosic material, 20% protein, and 10% lipids, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and phenolic compounds.
 

This innovative technology not only reduces waste but also enhances the flour’s functionality, making it perfect for use in bakeries and food production. By partnering with local breweries, we efficiently collect BSG and turn it into a sustainable, high-value ingredient that supports eco-friendly production and consumption practices.
